Youth Council:

The Northeast Tennessee Workforce Investment Board (NETWIB) established the Northeast Tennessee Youth Council as required by the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) 1998. The Northeast Tennessee Youth Council is charged with overseeing the coordination of  local youth workforce systems and programs.

The Northeast Tennessee Youth Council is a collaboration among local business, education professionals, government, community leaders and youth that provide youth with opportunities to become productive and working adults.

The Youth Council has aligned its working plan so that linkages are established between academic learning and the world of work. Through partnerships with local school districts, business and community partners, the Youth Council is piloting new ways that prepare in/out of school youth for careers, while addressing local employment shortages and growing local talent for current and future needs.
