Who we Are: 

The Northeast Tennessee Workforce Board members consist of businesses, educational institutions, labor, local residents,  community organizations,  and economic development agencies.   All board members are appointed by    the local elected officials which enhances the collaboration and coordination of business and local government.

NETWIB Goals:

The Northeast Tennessee Workforce Investment Board’s (NETWIB) strategies for meeting the challenges and opportunities of our regional workforce needs are aimed at helping employers find and retain qualified workers and preparing workers with the skills necessary to secure employment and opportunities for career advancement. The NETWIB’s strategies are to:

• Provide employer focus services 

• Enhance universal access to Career Centers 

• Leverage all available resources

• Provide training to in/out-of school youth

What is WIA:

The Workforce Investment Act is United States federal legislation that mandates workforce development and established major reforms in employment and training services across the nation. The Act calls for a "pooling" of workforce investment programs and community resources into a single user-friendly system (Career Centers). The fundamental concepts of WIA include:

• Customer focused approach
• Streamlining services  
• Empowering individuals
• Increased accountability for training providers
• Established local Workforce Investment Board                            
• Strengthened Youth programs

The local Workforce Investment Boards acts as the "board of directors" to the local system and focuses on "strategic planning, policy development, and oversight of the system." The Career Centers and affiliate offices are the focal point for delivery of services and/or referrals to community resources.

WIA Services:

The Northeast Tennessee Workforce Investment Board offers a wide range of   services through the Workforce Investment Act for employers and job seekers.
